david r beam, dds
dr. david d. beam is a 1984 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, graduating cum laude. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at Fairleigh-Dickenson University. He also received an ASAP Degree in Medical Technology from Metpath Inc. After graduating from MCV, dr. beam pursued a General Practice Residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He then relocated back to the Richmond area to begin his General Dentistry Practice.
dr. beam is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association, as well as the Richmond Dental Society. He participates with the James River Implant Study Club, and the Titanium Study Club
dr. beam is married and resides in Chester with his wife and two daughters. Outside of his dental practice dr. beam is a long standing member of the South Richmond Rotary Club and the Dale Ruritan Club. He serves on the board for the Chesterfield County Colonial Heights Crime Solvers and the Lucy Corr Foundation. he was awarded the Hulon Willis Award for outstanding service from Crime Solvers. dr. beam is a volunteer at the Dental Clinic at Lucy Corr Nursing Home. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, skiing, riding motorcycles, photography, watercolors, as well as competitive shooting.
For over 30 years, dr. beam has served and provided the community in a professional manner with the highest quality of dental treatment. He educates his patients on proper dental health, as well as their overall general health. dr. beam utilizes materials of the best quality and practices the most up to date procedures that far exceed standards. He provides prompt, courteous dental care with integrity and honesty. His ultimate goal is to make his patient’s dental experience as pleasant as possible.
ANDREA R ONDERDONK, DDS
Dr. Andrea Onderdonk was born and raised in Torrington, Connecticut. She graduated from Keene State College in New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She landed in Richmond when she attended Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2013 Following her dental school education she completed her one year general practice residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She has been practicing in the greater Richmond are since graduating her residency and there is no other place she would rather be.
Dr. Onderdonk has a passion for dentistry and lifelong learning. She especially enjoys the cosmetic side of dentisty and giving her patients the confidence to smile. Keeping up with the latest innovations is of the utmost importance to her so she can offer her patients the highest standard of care possible. In addition to educating herself, she enjoys educating her patients so they have an active part in their care. Dr. Onderdonk is an active member with the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Richmond Dental Society.
When Dr. Onderdonk is not in the office she is spending her free time outside staying active and enjoying all that Richmond has to offer. She also enjoys cooking and traveling with her boyfriend, Evan and spending time with their dog, Waylon.
AMANDA W BLANKENSHIP, RDH - HYGIENIST
Mandy started working for dr. beam as his receptionist in 1989. She graduated in 1994 with an Associates Degree of Dental Hygiene from Virginia Western Community College. She has continued her education and is certified in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygienist Association as well as the Virginia Dental Hygiene Association.
Outside of our office Mandy enjoys reading, dancing, walking, and cooking. She loves the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. Mandy works daily to help her patients improve not only their oral health, but also their total overall health. She strongly believes they are interconnected and educates her patients in these concepts.
CAROL NICHOLS, RDH - HYGIENIST
Carol was born in Southwestern Virginia, and received her degree of Dental Hygiene in 1984 from Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia. She moved to Chesterfield County 27 years ago, and has been with our dental practice since 1988. Carol is an active member of both the American Dental Hygiene Association, as well as the Virginia Dental Hygiene Association.
Carol is married and has two daughters, and has a beautiful grandsonand a beautiful granddaughter While away from work, she is very involved with her church and does yearly mission trips with North American Mission Board and World Changes Missions. She enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them achieve good oral health.
SHEILA REDMAN - OFFICE MANAGER
Sheila joined our practice in October 2012, bringing with her 33 years of experience in the dental field. She has been married to her husband Donnie for 44 years. They have twins, a son and a daughter and two grandsons. Outside of the office she loves spending time at the beach with a good book, going boating on the lake with her grandsons - after all there is no greater feeling than being "Nana", and traveling with her husband on road trips and spending time with her family and friends creating great memories. She also loves quilting and going antiquing with friends. Her passion in the dental field is working with patients, helping them achieve that beautiful smile that they want and deserve. " Being able to see someone smile with confidence again is the greatest feeling". She will be happy to help you with any questions you may have regarding your treatment plan, and financial arrangements to achieve your healthy, beautiful smile. She is proud to be a member of this staff and finds it a privilege to serve each and every one of our patients.
CINDY COMBS - DENTAL ASSISTANT
Cindy is dr. beam's assistant who has been working by his side for over thirty years. She loves what she does and considers her patients as part of her extended family. Her goal at work is to make all appointments as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Cindy attended Virginia Commonwealth University and later married her husband Neal. They have two children, Kendyl who attends James Madison University & their son Brad, who aspires to go to Virginia Military Institute.
The entire family enjoys all beach activities and their favorite is scuba diving.
BROOKE RYAN - DENTAL ASSISTANT
Brooke attended J. Sargent Reynolds Community College and received her certificate for Dental Assisting in 2012. She joined the practice that same year and graduated from John Tyler Commmunity College with her Associates degree. Presently she is working with our office full time and has plans to attend dental hygiene school in the future.
Brook has been fascinated with dentistry since she was very young. She enjoys the challenges that it brings and the ability to learn something new every day.
CHERYL DREIS - FRONT DESK COORDINATOR
Cheryl is a long time resident of Chesterfield. She has been in the dental field for over thirty-five years.She began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant and eventually moved to the Administrative Office. Cheryl joined our practice in 2012.
Her goal in dentistry is when a patient walks through our front door is to make them feel they have stepped into a friendly and caring atmosphere. Cheryl is married and resides in Chester with her husband Dave and a sweet golden retriever named Lilly. She has two children and two precious grandchildren. Her favorite activities include working on crafts, exercising, gardening, cooking and traveling. One of her favorite places to travel is to Seattle, Washington to visit her daughter and grandchildren.
SANDY MOORE - FRONT DESK COORDINATOR
Sandy is a long time resident of Colonial Heights and is new to the dental field. She is excited to join the staff in the front office and learn all about the dental field and our practice.
Her goal is make everyone feel welcome and comfortable when coming to the office. She has been married to her husband, Jim for 44 years and has two children, six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Sandy enjoys traveling, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
